Nowadays almost everybody thinks they know how to play good poker. They have seen perhaps a show on TV like High Stakes Poker, Poker After Dark or The Big Game and they think they now know all there is to know about the game of Texas Hold'em. Well that's just good for business you may say. But unfortunately in the last few years since the explosion of online poker in 2003 many players do have an overall good understanding and are fairly competent, especially as you move up in stakes. As a result, your edge as a player is not that big anymore. I don't know if in 2003 the tables were full of fish and donkeys and you could easily make 10.000$ a month. However what I do know is that know this is like chasing the american dream - that is, just a dream. In order to succeed in todays online poker world you need to put in a lot of hours of hard work and have a lot of patience and determination. Everybody has heard at least some basic Hold'em advice or even watched training videos or read books. But not all is bleak. I hold the positive belief that someday we could really be a force to be reckoned with at the poker tables. After all, there are many examples of players who started their career online and became both famous and rich in a fairly short amount of time. You could become one of them too.
Anyway, the main point of this post is that nowadays it is widely agreed upon that Hold'em is simply not nearly as profitable as it a few years ago. So that brings us to the conclusion that the best way to make more money online is to choose a different poker game from the many available at tha major poker sites and specialize in it. Or even learn a couple of poker variants and be able to select the softest game you can find from a huge variety of available options. If you are a good Texas Hold'em player you can try Omaha. Maybe learn an entirely different game from scratch. It could even help you improve your Hold'em game and possibly make you some bucks too.
Think about it...
